Q: What is covered in a standard home inspection?
A: A standard home inspection is a visual examination of the home and major components including foundation, roofing, heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing, visible structural elements, walls, floors, ceilings, doors and windows.
Q: What is the purpose of the home inspection?
A: The purpose of the inspection is to inform and educate the client about significant defects and concerns. The report provides a general evaluation of existing conditions and also may suggest future maintenance procedures.
Q: What other services are provided in addition to the standard home inspection?
A: Additional services such as evaluations of sea walls, spas, swimming pools, sprinkler systems, well and septic systems are offered. Also available is environmental testing for lead, radon and certain other environmental risks.
Q: What advantages does one have by choosing Dickson Home and Building Inspection over the other home inspection companies?
A: The vast majority of home inspectors don’t possess the education, skills, training and experience of John Dickson, the president of Dickson Home and Building Inspection. He is a registered Florida State Class A General Contractor (#CGC1508900) with 26 years of construction experience. He has a degree in Building Construction Technology from Brigham Young University. He has inspected more than 12,000 buildings and homes and is the former president of an environmental construction firm. Because of Dickson’s experience in construction, he is able to offer home inspection clients estimates of what likely costs will be in repairing defects he discovers in the buildings inspected.
